Natural Fiber Wall Art DIY

January 18, 2017 By Lynn 1 Comment

Boring walls are nobodies friend. What’s to look at?! To stimulate the brain?! To entice the eyes?! Nothing…. blah!

This wall needed some love. My husband was even making comments about it…that is saying something! He is a super chill guy and doesn’t seem to care too much about “home decor.”

TIME TO DIY!!

I have been playing with leather a lot lately and thought something with leather might just do the trick. ANNND a branch! I would need the peeerrfect branch (insert evil villain laugh).

Boom! It magically appeared…lol! Okay, maybe not magically… I have a sweet friend who let me come over and helped this crazy prego cut a branch off one of her trees. Good friend!

I used eye screws and Hercules hooks/monkey hooks to hang this on my wall. I didn’t want to see the hooks poking out.

You can find these hooks on Amazon HERE or at your local hardware store.

I then got cracking on the leather part. I used four different colors and types of leather.

This could easily be customized to fit your space/style/colors. There are so many options with leather.

May favorite place to search for leather is Tandy Leather. They are four stores in Utah and stores through out the US. OR you can find them online too. Click HERE for their website. I like to go into the store though before I buy anything.

I laid all my leather out, moved it around, played with it, cut it, until it felt JUST right.

Then I used my leather hole punch tool to make holes along the top of the entire piece.

You can find this tool HERE.

After my holes where all punched out I tied a blanket stitch along the top, threading it through all the layers of leather.

That part probably took the longest. But SO worth it!! I then tied it onto my stick and WA-LA!

It turned out more beautiful than I thought it would. NO MORE BORING WALL!

Now my bedroom is almost complete. 🙂

When were moved into our home the basement was not finished, but it was partially framed. One of those framed walls was a little funky. It did not line up with the other “walls” it would meet up with. I wasn’t sure how to make it work with the room behind it. At the same […]
