Have you ever sewn on paper?! If not, you should try! I have done a few projects with like this and they always turn out so darling.
For this craft I got all my supplies at The Wood Connection– minus my thread. I used one of their 11×14″ wood canvas, an assortment of their scrapbook paper, black rickrack, a pack of red sprinkle stickers, two small round wood circles for the wheels, Delta craft paint- black and sea-foam, and wood glue.
Excuse the next two pictures, it was LATE at night I enjoyed starting this craft while my kids were asleep! Ahhh….crafting in quiet….so so nice. Just doesn’t make for great pictures….
After cutting out the shapes I needed I started to sew on my paper. I did a zig-zag stitch on the grass and straight stitch on everything else – varying my stitch length a little here and there. I sew on the small individual items first, then glue it on to the background paper. Sewing the pieces on the background would be much more difficult.
Before gluing down all my pieces, I flipped the wood canvas around and used it like a shadow box. I painted the edge and outside black and painted the inside sea-foam to match the paper going onto the back. Using the wood glue from The Wood Connection I attached my paper to the back of the box. I then used tiny dabs of hot glue to put the rest together.
Are you ready for the kiddies to go back to school?!?! I kinda am….shhh!!….don’t tell them I said that 😉
