My Favorite Paint

June 11, 2014 By Lynn 3 Comments

I have used A LOT of paint brands…you probably have too!  Holy Moly!  I didn’t know I would grow up to paint so many walls and pieces of furniture.   I plan on painting a whole lot more too, cuz I love it.  :)

Recommended Paint colors of reasonably priced Behr paint

You have probably found your favorite type or brand of paint.  Or!  You are trying to figure it all out, hence reading this post.  :)   I like chalk paint and I LOVE milk paint, but let’s get real!  Those can be really really pricey.  Sure you can make your own chalk paint for a fraction of the cost, but what type of paint is best to use to mix into that concoction?!

Well, here is my top pick for best all around paint brand:

Behr Premium Plus Ultra from Home Depot.

It is a paint and primer in one.  I still prime when I paint furniture, mind you.  (read about that HERE)   But I really love this paint for several reasons.

A bloggers favorite affordable paint brand and colors. Her reasons why it is the best on the market.

First and foremost to sum it up in one word, it’s “creamy”.  It reminds me of milk paint.   The way it coats and smooths out feels a lot like milk paint, which is super awesome for a water-based paint.  You did good Home Depot!

Secondly, this line of paint offers some beautiful colors.   The samples in the pictures are colors I use the most for furniture pieces.

This piece was the Bali Bliss and Caribe.

This bread box was the Japanese Kimono.  I use this color ALL the time and I love LOVE it.

And this piece was the Saffron Strands mixed into a chalk paint formula.

And lastly, I love it because of the PRICE.  It is quality paint that, I think, stands up to any of the more expensive brands like Benjamin-Moore or Sherwin Williams.  It coats well, is very durable, and is affordable.  Perfect.

And!  If you get the right person at the paint counter, they can mix any color swatch Home Depot carries into this brand base.  You just gotta ask. :)

Now go paint stuff!!

Behr is my favorite too! I still need to try the prime and paint in one, but I’m sure it won’t be hard for me to find something to paint 😉

I know this is an old post, but do you still mix this Behr paint with a “chalk paint formula”? If so, can you share which one you use? Thanks! (PS – love, love, love these colors. Pretty much the palette for my beachy Florida home)

When were moved into our home the basement was not finished, but it was partially framed. One of those framed walls was a little funky. It did not line up with the other “walls” it would meet up with. I wasn’t sure how to make it work with the room behind it. At the same […]
