You thinking about neighbor gifts lately? What to do….? Or a teacher gift, random act of kindness gift, sibling presents… Well, I have a fun, cheap, and easy idea for you. AND! You can involve your kids in this one. They will LOVE it!
We took a trip to our local thrift store to find glass and metal containers to plant succulents in. Who doesn’t love succulents in cute containers?!
These cost between $1 and $2 dollars each at our local thrift store, Deseret Industries. My kids had a fun time helping me pick them out and even more fun filling them with dirt!
You will need some cactus potting soil, succulents, water, and of course some small containers for this project.
Prepare to get dirt everywhere if your kids help.
This was a wonderful way to create inexpensive neighbor gifts. Deseret Industries has a great selection for a quick project like this. And, it is such a great way to make a meaningful gift your friends can enjoy for months to come.
We love to shop at Deseret Industries because we know that it is helping to create local jobs and give job training to for people in our community. All store associates are given skills training, career counseling and assistance to move into a permanent career. We think it is fantastic that our donations and purchases here are helping others move toward a life of self-reliance.
Donations move quickly from the back to the shopping floor, making it the perfect place to go treasure hunting.
We hope your family will be inspired to make something special this holiday! Involving your kids can be tricky, but it is always worth the extra effort to see how much pride they take in making a gift for someone else and then delivering it.
