Paper Gift Basket

Since we are now getting 7-12 eggs daily from our chicken’s (who hate the snow by the way šŸ™‚ ). We decided this year to share our eggs and give them as neighbor gifts for Christmas. We just hand one problem. We couldn’t figure out how to package them up without spending a lot of money. After searching the interwebs for ideas Devan came up with this paper basket pattern. Brilliant! It can hold 12 eggs, looks cute, is easy to make, and is practically free to make!

Devan made this PDF file for me to share with my blogger buddies -YOU! You can download this file and print to your hearts content.

Now! How to assemble the pattern! Let’s get started!

Get out paper, glue gun or tape, and scissors.

You will want to use cardstock paper that has a little more strength to it. If you are using 12×12 paper you will want to cut it down to 8.5 x 11 inches to be able to print the pattern onto it. Save your scraps though! You can use part of the scraps for your handle. The pattern does not allow paper for the handle, you will need to cut that separately.

Cut out the triangles marked “REMOVE.”

Then cut along the short lines along each side. Be careful not to cut past the long line that goes the entire length of the paper.

Now fold the remaining triangles along the long line in towards the center of the paper.

Your basket should look like this at this point in the process. After you haveĀ made itĀ to this step, you will now start to fold in the sides.

Bend and press where you meet up with the end of the triangles.

Once you have all of your folds get hot glue or tape out to finish assembling your basket. With your triangle folded up begin gluing the short taps you cut to the center of the triangle.

Repeat on the opposite side.

Once one side is done, flip the box over and repeat this process on the other side.

Now that your box is made it is time to add that handle. This piece of paper should be about 8-10 inches long and 1 inch wide. Glue to the ends to each side of the basket.

And you are done! These are so quick and easy to make!! Include your kids! My kids love making these little baskets. It was a great way to involve them in making gifts for our neighbors.

And it you don’t have eggs, cookies are always great too. šŸ™‚

When were moved into our home the basement was not finished, but it was partially framed. One of those framed walls was a little funky. It did not line up with the other “walls” it would meet up with. I wasn’t sure how to make it work with the room behind it. At the same […]
