Marble Pumpkins

October 1, 2018 By Lynn Leave a Comment

I am excited to share this fun DIY Halloween craft with you today. This is a craft you could call a “science experiment” and do with your kids. And really, you could use any object to marbleize. The possibilities are endless!  I bought some cheap faux pumpkins at Walmart to use for this craft, grabbing a variety of shapes and sizes.  You will also need a large bin of water, rubber gloves (a must! I figured out the hard way), paint stick, and two colors of spray paint that are oil based (most brands are).

You will need to start by spraying your pumpkins a base color. I choose to do most of mine white and a couple gold for my base colors.

While those dry you can start to prep your bin of water. If you have larger pumpkins you will want to fill a large plastic bin 3/4 of the way full of water. Once that is ready you will begin to spray a different color (I chose black). Spray the paint in the center of the bin. You will want to spray it quickly and spray a good amount of paint.

Give the paint a gentle stir, pulling it in different directions.

Now, with your gloves on, quickly dip your pumpkin into the water. The black paint will grab onto the pumpkin.

And WAALAA! A beautiful marbleized pumpkin for your decorating needs.

Tip! Be careful where you place your hands when dipping the pumpkin, you will leave finger marks on the pumpkin.

When were moved into our home the basement was not finished, but it was partially framed. One of those framed walls was a little funky. It did not line up with the other “walls” it would meet up with. I wasn’t sure how to make it work with the room behind it. At the same […]
