Children’s Book Reviews

January 23, 2017 By Lynn Leave a Comment

I am a sucker for children’s books. I LOVE cute illustrations and a silly story. I could sit with my little’s and read books all day. I was recently asked by Camille, a Consultant of Usborne books, if I would review a book for her? Ummmm….easy…HECK YES I WOULD! If you have never heard of Usborne Books I am really sorry, but you are missing out!! We love Usborne books (and I HONESTLY mean it). I found these books about 2 years ago and now I make sure there are 2 per child under our Christmas tree each year, I give them as gifts to family and friends, I get them when I am struggling at church and need a new thing to keep my kids busy, we own a LOT of them now. So, before I go on about the darling book, Nibbles, I thought I would share about some of my favorite Usborne books we have around our home. And, just so you know this is just a small selection of the ones I have personally bought for my family over the last two years. I could post and post about these books…they are really THAT great.

We first got into these books because of the find and seek books- 1001 Things to spot. They have a fairy one, pirates, things on the farm, in the sea…and more! My kids love these so much we have had to replace them a few times. OH! Another awesome thing about Usborne books is if your kids love a book a little too much and completely destroy it, you can take it back to the person you bought it from and they will give you that same book for 50% off the original price. They are pretty sturdy books, but kids….kids are crazy. 🙂 You can find these 1001 Things to Spot books, by clicking HERE or HERE for a full collection. These would be great to ask Grandma for!

My girls love to read these books. It is fun to get them reading or working in the counting book together… makes a mama heart happy. The Fairy Tales book is a favorite at our house. The pictures are super cute. This is a good book for a beginning reader and goes through multiple classic tales.

While I was taking pictures of my kids for this post I had to have them stop reading so I could snap a pic of a different book and they did NOT want to put this one down. Haha! I got in trouble… 🙂 You can find this cute Fairy Tale book HERE.

This book is awesome if you have a little one that is starting to count. My big kids think it is fun to help our littlest read through this book. It is called Count to 100. It slowly works them up to counting to 100. And as with every freak’n book! the pictures are very appealing to the eye. Find this one HERE.

The other book by the girls is Muddle and Match. These are great books for ages 2-5, I think. They can flip the flaps in the book to change the heads, body, feet too look however. There different ones for boys and girls or gender neutral. I love to give these as gifts. Find the whole collection HERE.

My oldest is SUPER into cooking right now. So, this year for Christmas she got this Start to Cook book under the tree. She loves it. It talks about different techniques and gives information about different foods, then gives some easy kid recipes for them to try. You can find this HERE for your little chef in training.

Another book, I didn’t take a picture of, that is great for girls 8-14 is the Drawing, Doodling, and Coloring Fashion book. My daughter loves it and we have given it as gifts a few times.

Another one of their drawing books we love are these. The Step-By-Step books, my son who is 7, is all about these. He even tries to sneak it to school. 🙂 You can find this one HERE. There are four different options for these books. You can check them all out on this page HERE.

And back to the littlest people, my youngest loves the sticker books. You can scroll through all their options HERE.

My son has used and loved the Dressing Hero’s sticker book. We also love the dry erase books for church or waiting at the airport. You can check those out HERE. These are their Wipe-Clean books and come with a dry erase marker.

Okay, now back to Nibbles… it is super cute and my kids laugh each time we read it. He is a sneaky yellow guy and loves to Nibble on stuff, especially BOOKS! He eats his way though some classic books changing the story lines a little each time. It is very cute when Little Red Riding Hood get mad at his for messing up her story. He is JUST hungry! Ha! My son read this first with me and he thought is was super funny. It has cute little books inside of the book that Nibbles finds his was through. It is a fun read! Our new favorite bedtime story. It is $16.99 and you can find it by clicking HERE. We got it last week and I think we have read it 5 or 6 times already. My kids want to read it over and over. (GOOD SIGN!)

If you have any questions please leave them in the comments below and I will try my best to get back to you! I hope this post helped you find something new and fun for your sweet family. I was given Nibbles for free to review, so technique this is a sponsored post. BUT!! All thoughts are my own and I would never share anything with you that I honestly didn’t think was helpful or just plain awesome. 🙂

One of my first ever blog posts was about children’s books. You can find that post HERE. Have you ever heard of a Thingumajig? or Value Tales books? If not you will want to check out this post too. 🙂 WE LOVE BOOKS!

When were moved into our home the basement was not finished, but it was partially framed. One of those framed walls was a little funky. It did not line up with the other “walls” it would meet up with. I wasn’t sure how to make it work with the room behind it. At the same […]
