Chore Chart in Space

June 7, 2016 By Lynn 1 Comment

Begging and pleading….please make your bed!?!! Ahhhh… Summer and a clean house just don’t go together…unless maybe they can?? Maybe? We’ll see….

My mother-in-law was the Queen of rad chore charts when my husband was a once rowdy little boy. He tells me how cool they were all the time. So! I called his mom and asked her for some chore chart making advise. Her best words, “Keep it simple.” I ran my idea passed her and gathered a few ideas to come up with this spaceship chore chart. Late the other night I busted out my watercolors and enjoyed painted some spaceships while my kids were asleep. Time to motivate the mini’s!

The next day when my kids woke-up they were super excited to color these and try out the new chore chart.

These can be printed off at home for a chore chart OR you can use these as coloring pages.

So here’s the deal! I have about 5-7 chores or responsibilities my children need to do each day. Once they finish each task they put a smiley face sticker on the chore chart. At the end of the day, if they have all their chores checked off, they can put a big alien sticker on the spaceship scene. At the end of the week when the scene is full they can choose a prize out of my special box. I am only having them do this Monday thru Friday.  I heard once that one of the best ways to involve your children in household tasks is to give them options on what chores they would like to do each day or week. Let them pick a chore they think would be helpful to the family/home.

I found my alien stickers at the Dollar Store and black poster board from Walmart. This chore chart will cost around $2.00 depending on how many sticker sheets you buy.

If you can’t find alien stickers I also painted some aliens to go along with the spaceships. This would be great to laminate and add Velcro to, so you can use it more than once. Make it fun and let the kids color the aliens! 🙂

You can find all the free downloads for this chart by clicking on the pictures below.

We need something besides a grid with checkmarks, and this is super cute, so I’ll get these printed out at naptime today. I’m feeling overwhelmed by little trinket toys, so we’ll stick with 4 chores for a quarter.

When were moved into our home the basement was not finished, but it was partially framed. One of those framed walls was a little funky. It did not line up with the other “walls” it would meet up with. I wasn’t sure how to make it work with the room behind it. At the same […]
