The Piano’s Facelift – Beginning Steps

March 28, 2016 By Lynn Leave a Comment

We’ll folks my piano finally got a facelift! And she looks bangarang’n!!! I teamed up with Kenna owner of Latest Lovely Design to make this happen. Kenna paints, builds, and designs furniture! I told her about the look I was after and she made it happen. It is prettier than I expected it would be.

I bought Annie Sloan paint from Drab 2 Fab in Lehi. We used Paris Grey and Graphite for the paint colors and then the dark wax to finish off the piano. The ladies at Drab 2 Fab are VERY helpful and will show you paint colors and all the stuff you need to know before getting started on a project like this.

Here are some before pictures-

One of the first things we had to do to get this baby ready to be painted was remove the wheels. This was kinda a major pain in the butt. We actually had to tip the piano forward EEEeee!! It was scary. I should have taken a picture…. Piano Makeover with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint with @latestlovelydesign and @pocketfulofpaint

This piano was pretty, but so beat up. We think from some pencil marks we found inside the piano that it was made around 1935! And it still sounds beautiful- bonus!

The other thing we had to do was fix the trim on the front.  A large piece was broken off the front. We unscrewed this entire piece to completely remove it from the piano and be able to cut the rest of the broken piece off with our table saw.

I found a pretty trim piece at Home Depot to replace that broken lip.

Hallway Bookrack – Small Space Solutions

When were moved into our home the basement was not finished, but it was partially framed. One of those framed walls was a little funky. It did not line up with the other “walls” it would meet up with. I wasn’t sure how to make it work with the room behind it. At the same […]
