Fish Tacos

December 31, 2015 By Lynn Leave a Comment

Let’s talk fish tacos.

Every New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day we like to have seafood of some kind. It’s been a tradition since I was a kid. This is one of my favorite ways to eat seafood.

Fish Taco Recipe- Legit!!!

My husband and I had experimented with this recipe for about 5 years till we felt we finally perfected it. It is a recipe we enjoy making together and our family loves it. I’d dare to say it might be our number one- actual favorite of all time! Oofa! That’s some big talk… You try it and let me know what you think.

When we make fish tacos we like to use Rock-fish or Orange Roughy. Any white fish will work, but those are our favorite for fish tacos.

We rinse and dry our fish before putting it in the batter. You can do this while your oil is heating up.

To make the batter mix together-

1 Sleeve of crushed Ritz crackers
1 1/2 cup of Bisquick
1 cup of Panko bread crumbs
1 egg
1 teaspoon of creole seasoning
about 1/2 can of Sprite

You will want the batter to be thick so mix in the Sprite slowly.

After dipping your fish in the batter place it in hot vegetable oil to fry. Remove it from the oil once it is golden brown and place it on a paper towels.

The sauce is also a recipe we worked hard to get right. It really is best if you can use fresh lime juice and Zatarain’s creole seasoning.

For the sauce mix together-

1/2 cup of mayo
1 cup of plain yogurt
the juice of 1/2 a fresh lime
1 tablespoon of creole seasoning

Place it in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it.

Once your fish is ready- serve it on your favorite tortillas with shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes, salsa, cheese, and limes.

When were moved into our home the basement was not finished, but it was partially framed. One of those framed walls was a little funky. It did not line up with the other “walls” it would meet up with. I wasn’t sure how to make it work with the room behind it. At the same […]
