Storage Tub with Casters

July 27, 2015 By Lynn Leave a Comment

Storage!  A mother’s constant – how can I create more storage and organization?  Finding the right storage for a room can be like putting together a puzzle. Gotta find just the riiighhttt piece, then BAM! It all comes together. Such a good feeling.

I really wanted to find a toy bin or something for my kids to have at the end of their beds.  I searched high and low, nothing really grabbed me. Then when I was walking through Home Depot and saw the Liberty Hardware line – the teal and yellow casters popped out at me. They kinda yelled at me, “Take me home!!” Okay, not really…but I imagined they did. “Heck yes I will take you home!” Oops, did I say that out loud?! Hehe…just kidding again. 🙂 But, seriously, these needed to be mine.

I dreamed up a metal tub that would these could go on, then I went to every “barn animal feed” store and home improvement store I could find…nada…then I cried to the universe (I do that a lot)…then I Googled.  Amazon had exactly what I was hoping to find, a 31″ by 16″ metal tub. PERFECT!

As soon as they arrived in the mail I busted out my drill and got to work.  *Make sure if you do this that you use a drill bit specifically for drilling into metal.  I marked out where I wanted my wheels to go and drilled into the tub. I did need to buy new nuts and bolts to attach the wheels- the screws that come with the wheels wouldn’t work for this project.  Once the wheels were attached I rolled it into my kids room and filled it with stuffed animals and blankets that were enjoying living on the floor a little too much. I love storage. Everything has a place, everything in it’s place.

This is an easy project anyone with a drill can do. You can find the metal tub I used by clicking HERE.

When were moved into our home the basement was not finished, but it was partially framed. One of those framed walls was a little funky. It did not line up with the other “walls” it would meet up with. I wasn’t sure how to make it work with the room behind it. At the same […]
