Geometric Coat Hooks

July 26, 2015 By Lynn Leave a Comment

Aren’t these knobs so cute?!  One of my main goals while working on Charlie and Beck’s room was to create storage- so we could attempt to actually have a clean room.  We shall see if that works, haha!  Storage and organization…every mom’s dream…aww….a girl CAN dream of clean kids rooms! 🙂

DIY geometric coat hooks

Since my kids are at the stage of fighting over the silliest of things I wanted to create “his and her’s” coat hooks.  Then they would know who gets which hook and hopefully avoid one more argument.

The stencils in the Liberty Hardware line at Home Depot were too cute to pass by.  I thought they would be fun to add in the project. I’ll admit though, I have never used stencils and was a little intimidated to try them out.  Turns out, if you read directions and don’t try to figure things out your own way, projects can be pretty easy! Ha! That comment was directed at me, myself…I am a terrible direction follower 🙂

I used a roller, like it showed on the packaging. EASY AS PIE! Now I might be tempted to stencil more things….trouble!

Blue tape might as well be attached to my hip these days- I am going through it in our new house like crazy! This project was no exception. I taped out the shapes I wanted on my wood slice, painted, let dry, then taped more shapes. This was a fun relaxing project for me. The hardest part was decided which colors to use. I made sure to pick colors my kids each like for their different hooks, so they would easily know who’s hook is who’s.  (no fighting, cross my fingers!)

After they were all dry I drilled a hole into the center of the wood slice and attached my knobs.  I then put hooks on the back and hung them up. It’s always so nice to check one more project off my list.

We now have a great spot behind their door for our piano book bag, Darth Vader costumes, and whatever else that is hugging the floor. 🙂

This could also be a fun project you could do with your kids. You could even skip the knobs and just have some fun geometric art on wood slices! There are about six different stencils to choose from at Home Depot. Go get crafty with your bad self!

Hallway Bookrack – Small Space Solutions

When were moved into our home the basement was not finished, but it was partially framed. One of those framed walls was a little funky. It did not line up with the other “walls” it would meet up with. I wasn’t sure how to make it work with the room behind it. At the same […]
