Bright Happy Nursery

June 18, 2014 By Lynn 6 Comments

This nursery is a collaboration of hand-me-down furniture from my other kids rooms and a whole-lotta DIY.

Check out this bright and happy nursery for a sweet baby girl.

We are currently renting the house we live in and it just so happens that is room was a lime-ish green when I moved in.   I was worried how all of the decor I had would fit in a lime-ish green room, but the colors couldn’t have been more perfect.  The green was pulled out in all the fabric I had used in the ruffle crib skirt, the hoop wall decor, the pillow and ottoman, and the wall art.  I gotta say, lime-ish green looks pretty cute with pink and purple.

My color scheme started with the art above the crib.  I have originally made it for my oldest daughters room 5 years ago.  It has been sitting around waiting for a new home on a wall somewhere.  Using scrapbook paper I had and my sewing machine, I sewed on top of the paper to add fun detail.  The vine detail on the flower stem above is from my sewing machine. I painted a canvas for the background and layered the paper over top.   It is an easy piece of art work anyone can do.  I made the flower petals using my Cricut Machine and the Plantin SchoolBook cartridge.

I bought most the fabric I used at Hawthorne Threads.  They are my favorite online fabric store.  Check out their store HERE.   Other fabric I used was from vintage pillow cases or random fabric I have been hoarding for years… you know. 🙂

I made these for fun a while ago too.  I found a great tutorial from the girls at Shany-2-Chic.com

Note: If you haven’t seen their blog yet, you might be living in a hole.  They are kinda a big deal in blog world.  They are super SUPER creative.

I LOVE your crib skirt! Do you have a tutorial or pattern? My mother in law wants to make one for my baby girl arriving in June. I’ve seen several 3-4 tier ruffle skirts, but I really love your 5 tier one! Please comment or email if you are able to provide any help in making this!

Hallway Bookrack – Small Space Solutions

When were moved into our home the basement was not finished, but it was partially framed. One of those framed walls was a little funky. It did not line up with the other “walls” it would meet up with. I wasn’t sure how to make it work with the room behind it. At the same […]
