Rrrr! Ye Matey! A Craft for Boys

March 28, 2014 By Lynn Leave a Comment

There needs to be more crafts for boys! Who’s with me?! ……Anybody… ? 😉

Pirate craft for boys! Great birthday party or boy scouts activity!

Here’s how to make a cool BOY treasure map complete with a bag of treasure.  This one is a crowd pleaser!!

I did this craft with my Cub Scouts and my 4 year old was dying!!  Seriously, you should have seen his eyes when I was making these with the older boys.   He couldn’t wait for his turn to make this!  You might need to buy a few things, but it will be worth it!  Thankfully,  I have lots of random junk at my house, so I didn’t spend a penny!  But I’m weird, so I have stuff like this at my house. 🙂

What you need is:

Rabbit skin or faux rabbit skin.  They sell fake rabbit furs at any local Boy Scout Office, or you can find them online.  They should cost around $4-6

A sharpie

A small canvas baggie or even a zip-lock will do (boys are not picky!)

Dollar store items, bullet shells, cool rocks or shinny pebbles, sea shells, anything boys would think is cool enough to be “treasure”

I first had the boys draw a map on a piece of paper of where they would hide their loot – like the backyard, bedroom or, around the house.  Then they used the Sharpie and drew it onto the smooth side of the faux rabbit fur.  That was the “map.”  They drew a skull and cross bones on their bag and filled it with whatever they thought was cool.

An easy quick craft for boys!

This would also be a hit at a pirate themed birthday party!

When were moved into our home the basement was not finished, but it was partially framed. One of those framed walls was a little funky. It did not line up with the other “walls” it would meet up with. I wasn’t sure how to make it work with the room behind it. At the same […]
